The Fuss Over Fevers
I just wanted to agree with you concerning fevers.
In many cases, Fevers Are Fine.
Our bodies were designed to heal themselves and we are given signals by our bodies when something is wrong because our bodies are going into defense mode.
Too often, we dumb down our symptoms—along with our defense—by using some over the counter concoction that is laced with sugars and additives.
This only prolongs our illness and makes us feel as though we need the OTC medicine just to survive.
Of course, we live in a society where we go, go, go. So, to some degree, it is understandable that people are willing to go to great lengths to get rid of painful or irritating symptoms.
Your boss is not going to let you stay home to heal properly. He or she is definitely not going to give you too much time to stay home and let your child heal properly.
“If YOU are feeling fine, you’d better drug that kid up and send him back to school so you can get back to work and keep your job.”
Don’t want to sound too cynical, but it is a vicious cycle that we have found ourselves in and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.
This is too sad, because it catches up to us in the end.
There is a great rise in debilitating, life-taking illnesses and we cannot keep saying, “We just don’t know what causes them.”
We have to start being honest about the radical change in the way we now handle our bodies.
As a mom, I have changed my approach to health—to include medicine and food.
It is a fairly recent change, but I feel better and more responsible.
I am far from perfect, but I know my children benefit from my new-found attentiveness.
It can be challenging and somewhat isolating when choosing NOT to be mainstream and do things like the masses.
I will say, to the credit of my children’s pediatrician, I am never pressured to do anything to my children that I don’t feel comfortable with.
We talk deeply. I listen to her professional opinion, she listens to my concerns, and she peacefully let’s me be THE MOM.
This spans from medication, to procedures, to vaccinations.
She even has told me about natural remedies to reduce fevers. She also told me about what she felt were the pros and cons.
She doesn’t always agree with my decisions but we work together.
Good doctors are out there.
Anyhow, I apologize for being so long. This page just struck a chord with me. I felt compelled to share.
Thank you so much for your site. Great info from what I’ve read so far.
I can already tell that, if the LORD allows, I will be back.
May God bless you,
